Cat Angel Sympathy Card

This is my third and final card of the weekend - using the "Cat Angel" stamp from 2 Cute Rubber Stamps, pink capsule collection backing papers, a mini doily, die cut butterfly, and punched flowers decorated with pearls. I love the effect of hand-drawn stitching, and probably use it far too much! I'm also really into teeny pearls at the moment too, they're just so cute!
I'm submitting this card to "What a Cutie" over at Stampin' for the Weekend.

This stamp would be great for sympathy cards - being in my business, I know a lot of pet people, so you can be sure my animal stamps get a lot of use!

I'm expecting a busy week in the lab - my lab partner's away, so that means I get to use her equipment too, which I'll be taking full advantage of! Even in a 3 year PHD, there's never enough time to get everything done.

Hagrid In Card Form

And this is the second card I've made for challenges, which I'll be submitting to "World Of Hogwarts" challenge at Forever Nights Challenges,  the "Pink, Green and Black" challenge at Catch The Bug, and Sketch Saturday!

I've used the "Wizard 7" stamp from Bugaboo Stamps coloured with pro-markers, with some papers from my stash, the swiss dots embossing folder, pink satin ribbon, paper flowers, chunky gems, glitter glue and my own sentiment.

Hagrid is one of the best characters on the Harry Potter books - there right from the start on his flying motorbike!

Make sure to check out the other entries - there's sure to be some crackers!

My First Challenge!

This is my first ever challenge card! I am submitting it in the "World Of Hogwarts" challenge at Forever Nights Challenges, and in the "Pink, Green and Black" challenge at Catch The Bug!

I  used the Bugaboo Stamp "Magical Tidbit - Tree", the swiss dots embossing folder, some papermania buttons, paper flowers, anitas teeny gems, and papers from my stash. I love Harry Potter, and the whomping willow has always seemed magical to me - I know the recipient of this card will catch the reference!

My Big Shot has arrived! Sadly though my cutting dies haven't yet, but hopefully they'll be here by next weekend, along with some fancy new stamps I can't wait to get my hands on!

An Introduction

I've been thinking about creating a blog for a while - it's such a versatile way to communicate ideas and creations, I simply couldn't resist any longer!
My world is probably not that of the typical crafter's (if such a thing exists). I'm studying for my PHD in Chemistry, I run my own business (Cavy Couture) selling handmade accessories for small pets, and I have two very noisy guinea pigs!

My chosen crafting medium is paper - cards, scrapbooking, handmade books etc, I love it all! I've gone a bit mad this week with my shopping online, oodles of embellishments and stamps, and my first ever die cut machine, the Big Shot! I'm hoping it'll arrive tomorrow so I can get in some crafting over the weekend and maybe finally be brave enough to enter a challenge at one of the fantastic blogs out there!

This blog will be about my life, including my creations, my time in the lab, and the things I love. Please visit and leave comments.
Thanks for visiting!
